H.C.R. 2001 More Information to Promote More Usage of Home Care & Rehabilitation Equipment
Since the implementation of the Care Insurance System, two years has passed and as of the end of last December there were 2.5 million persons that were evaluated for care services, 1.3 million persons that used home care services and 620,000 persons that used care institutional services. It has been reported by many municipalities that the usage of home care services had decreased more than was expected and it can be stated that the usage of home care and rehabilitation equipment has remained at a standstill.
In order to further promote the usage of home care and rehabilitation equipment, it will be essential to make the system easy to understand, ensure that necessary information is passed on to users, have general tips on how to select home care and rehabilitation equipment, and provide information and training for professionals involved in care services such as home helpers and care managers.
Under such circumstances, users on a wide scale will have to come to an understanding that using home care and rehabilitation equipment will (1) provide safe precise care (2) improve the quality of life for persons requiring care (3) maintain their existing functions (4) enable individualized care, and (5) increase the efficiency of care and other such benefits.
At present, test studies and discussions
are being held in various fields to promote
the usage of more information and communication
technology. Elderly and physically challenged
persons will enjoy the convenience of information
services. Development and distribution of
equipment, software and so forth to easily
access information sources is rapidly accelerating.
At the same time, various studies and discussions
are underway throughout the municipalities,
central government, as well as at a congress
of professionals for IT development under
the Ministry of Public Management, Home
Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications.
In view of such conditions, H.C.R. 2001
will be held again this year to further
develop and promote home care and rehabilitation
equipment with the cooperation and participation
of such related companies. We will endeavor
to further enhance our H.C.R. 2001 as a
"place" for interchange between
users and manufacturers, a "place"
to obtain the latest home care and rehabilitation
equipment information via our internet information
services, a "place" for manufacturers
to provide information through our home
care and rehabilitation market survey and
user questionnaire.
This year, we began accepting applications
for H.C.R. 2001 on March 1, 2001. As of
April 20, a total of 320 companies, including
domestic and overseas have applied. Additionally,
we are proceeding as planned and have received
160 inquiries regarding participation for
the first time. We thank everyone for their
continued support and cooperation as we
continue in our endeavors to make H.C.R.
2001 a better place.
