Support Daily Living and Care - H.C.R. 2002 in September

In preparation for the second term of the Care Insurance System, three years after its implementation, beginning in fiscal year 2003, various aspects including the remuneration system will be seriously re-evaluated during fiscal year 2002. Additionally, in regard to improving the quality of care services for the long-term future of care insurance, issues of main concern are: 1) converting rooms of special nursing homes for the elderly into private rooms and have residents taken care of in small groups, 2) improving the quality of care management, 3) promoting of home care and rehabilitation equipment and its proper usage, in addition to home remodeling, and 4) evaluating care services.

In order for persons requiring care to be able to continue living in the homes they are familiar with, it is important to support them so they can become independent in their daily activities and to lighten the burden of caregivers by using home care and rehabilitation equipment and remodeling their homes.

Under the current situation, it has been pointed out that problems have arisen as care managers are not adequately knowledgeable in the use of home care and rehabilitation equipment, and end users have few opportunities to obtain information on how to select and use such equipment, not to mention where to go for assistance.

Hopeful results are expected as new measures, included in the government's budget plans for fiscal year 2002, will be taken to further promote the usage of home care and rehabilitation equipment and to provide a more extensive consultation system.

This year's Int. Home Care & Rehabilitation Exhibition will be in its 29th year. It is necessary for us to meet the demands and expectations of end users, home care services providers and manufacturers, in addition to reconsidering the role our exhibition has played in providing the latest comprehensive information on home care and rehabilitation equipment from around the world.

Now Accepting Applications for H.C.R. 2002

Since February 1, we have been accepting applications for the 29th Int. Home Care and Rehabilitation Exhibition, H.C.R. 2002 to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from Tuesday, September 10 to Thursday, September 12. The deadline to apply for participation is March 29, 2002. We have gotten off to a good start with inquiries from over 102 companies that are interested in participating in the exhibition for the first time.

In the past 5 years, the number of H.C.R. exhibitors has doubled and it has resulted in greater progress toward the promoting of various avenues of information on home care and rehabilitation equipment. As a result of such progress, we have also seen an increase in the number of elderly, physically challenged, persons from home care services providers and other related companies visiting H.C.R. Expanded opportunities to meet together and exchange information with persons in other business categories and industries were also made possible, not to mention that the majority of overseas companies currently have agents in Japan. Furthermore, our H.C.R. home page at http://www.hcr.or.jp containing selected products of exhibitors had a total of 3.02 million pages accessed last year.

H.C.R. will continue in its role to bridge the gap between users and manufacturers through the use of IT to provide a place for people to obtain the most comprehensive information. We look forward to everyone's support and participation in this year's H.C.R. 2002.
